General Hospital: Spencer’s Future in Limbo? Nicholas Alexander Chavez Comments on Possible Recast
Is Spencer Leaving Port Charles?
It’s been nearly a year since General Hospital said goodbye to Spencer in January 2024. His exit was nail-biting and dramatic, with Esme pulling him into the Seine River as she met her potential death. It turned out the reason behind Spencer’s departure at the time was to give Nicholas Alexander Chavez some time off. But it seems he won’t be coming anytime soon. Read on to catch the whole tea!
Chavez Speaks Out: ‘I Understand’ the Recast Talk
The General Hospital actor was on a soap hiatus to shoot the second season of Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story. It’s a Netflix crime anthology series created by Ryan Murphy. Moreover, Nicholas scored a lead role as Lyle Menendez in the series. GH fans thought he would return to the ABC soap once filming wrapped.
However, before the show even finished production, Murphy offered him another big role. This time in the FX horror series Grotesquerie, which premiered on September 25th. It didn’t take long for Hollywood to see what GH fans already knew—Chavez is a rising star. What started as a break for Chavez has now turned into speculation.
The soap actor may not return to Port Charles at all, especially if his success continues to open more doors for him. Additionally, rumors began swirling that Chavez might not return, but he kept things open-ended, saying he hadn’t ruled out the possibility. In a recent interview with TVLine, he addressed his return, saying, “Port Charles is a crazy place.”
Nicholas added, “We’ll just have to see what happens.” If GH decides to bring Spencer back and Chavez is unavailable, he won’t hold any grudges. “Of course, I understand the show has needs, and I would fully support that,” he shared. Chavez indicated it all comes down to timing. However, one thing’s for sure—we haven’t seen the last of this Cassadine heir.
The bigger question is: should GH wait for Chavez or recast the role to move the storyline forward? In the meantime, there’s a buzz around Trina Robinson (Tabyana Ali) finding love elsewhere during Spencer’s absence. So stay tuned for any romantic updates!
