This week finally delivered the moment General Hospital fans have been waiting for: Cody told Mac the truth about their relationship. Unfortunately, the same week also dropped a surprise bomb that left viewers calling Drew a dog, a pig, and other colorful words. Ava continues her descent back into evil, leaving viewers worried about her future on the soap, and Heather gave Laura a way out of the pickle she’s gotten herself into.

A True Politician!

Viewers wasted no time in calling out Drew for being a dirty dog when he embraced Willow’s kiss on the Fourth of July. Yes, Willow made the first move, but he didn’t stop her one bit, and, in fact, he gave in to it. This was right after he announced his candidacy for Congress, no less!

It felt like this really came out of left field. Sure, Willow has had this hero-worship thing going on with Drew for some time now, but Drew never once hinted that he saw Willow as anything more than a friend. And, of course, they decided it could never happen again, which we know is a lie they are telling themselves. Heck, we recently heard that before when it comes to Nina and Drew! And that’s where this gets messy…

Only moments after swapping spit with Drew, Willow was making out with Michael on the porch while Nina went to Drew to get a little mouth-on-mouth action. At least Drew wasn’t as receptive to Nina this time, but again, he didn’t push her away! This took me back to junior high health class and the teacher telling us, “Every time you kiss someone, they are kissing everyone you’ve ever kissed before!” (The same argument is made about sex too). Sure, it was a lesson about orally transmitted STDs, but that’s what came to mind: they’ve all essentially kissed one another!

Mother-daughter love triangles involving the same man are nothing new to soaps, but this one doesn’t feel on par with past ones. Jack, Jennifer, and Laura from Days of Our Lives come to my mind, as the set-up was what made it intriguing. Jack and Jen were separated, and Jack (a recast at the time) met Laura at an anonymous self-help retreat where they used fake names. Oh, and he had never met Laura before because she’d been in a psych ward for decades. So things got messy when they went back to the real world and learned who each other really was…

Anyway, hopefully, you get what I’m getting at. There was no build-up to Willow and Drew, they were just dropped on us the same way Drew and Nina’s hate sex was. However, at least they built on Drew and Nina’s story, and we somewhat suspected the hate sex could be coming. It just feels as if the writers wanted to mess up Nina and Willow’s reconnecting in the worst way, so this is how we ended up here. There is nothing intriguing or enthralling about this triangle, It’s just plain gross!

Sasha spies GH

Willow and Drew have no idea Sasha saw them or that she confided in Cody about the kissing. Sasha is staying silent, but as we all know, they’ll kiss again or go even further. Hell, I won’t be shocked if they throw a ‘Who Is the Daddy’ story into the mix to make this even dirtier.

It’s just a matter of who will catch them in the act, Michael or Nina? Sasha was correct in saying this could blow up both ELQ and Aurora if the scandal gets out, but more so, it could tank Drew’s campaign before it gets off the ground. There is also the matter of his opponent, Chelsea Grimes, who everyone has painted as a terrible person. Perhaps she will be the one to find out about Drew and Willow and leak it to the press? Oh, wouldn’t that be a way to knock Nina off her feet, reading in her own paper about Drew and her daughter!

Like Father, Like Son

Cody blurting out the truth to Mac while they were watching the fireworks was a nice surprise. Rather than watch him plan an elaborate way to tell Mac at the perfect moment, Cody just let it all out there, leaving viewers saying, “Yup, he just did that!” The fact that Mac didn’t just believe Cody and accept him immediately, even though we secretly wanted him to, gave this story the drama it needed. Plus, the scenes to follow between Maxie and Cody, Sasha and Cody, Felicia and Cody, and Felicia, Maxie and Mac were all fantastic.

Felicia smiles Cody GH

Maxie was the shining star in this storyline. In a single scene, she tells Cody that he is basically an idiot for lying because Mac is the greatest, and then turns around and embraces Cody as her big brother and kids’ uncle. Even when he reminded her they weren’t blood-related, she told him Mac was basically her dad, so that made them family, and that was that. Seeing Cody be vulnerable with Felicia as she told him how he and Mac were a lot alike was also touching. However, watching Felica scold Mac for being stubborn was downright hilarious. And, of course, John J. York was equally as funny, acting like a petulant child when Maxie and Felicia were trying to reason with him about Cody.

Felicia gives it to MAc GH

I’ve waited so long for the truth to come out about Cody and Mac and for Cody and Sasha to get together, so I’m loving this storyline. And even though Mac is bitter right now, it’s far happier than the doom and gloom we had a few weeks back with Finn and Gregory’s stories.

Not Again!

Last week I noted that the show has been writing Ava to be stupid, which she is not. So I was pleasantly surprised to find this week that it seems like Ava’s putting together a very smart plan, even if it is a dangerous one. Many viewers feel they are still setting up a ‘Who Killed Ava’ storyline.

Ava pulled out a play from her playbook and blackmailed the pharmacist into giving Sonny a full placebo. Clearly she hasn’t learned anything from when she did that to Morgan, and he wasn’t nearly as volatile as Sonny is when off his meds. However, she’s clearly got a plan, and it feels like she revealed it this week without spelling it out. This whole ball got rolling with Scott saying Sonny having a public meltdown would be in her favor. Ava also noted, in her tense conversation with Sonny about going to court, how he always presents himself as calm, cool and collected on the stand, at least until someone says something he doesn’t like… Then she asked John “Not Jagger” Cates to be a witness for her against Sonny. Yeah, it seems obvious where this is going. Sonny won’t be able to contain his cool, let alone his anger if John gets up on the stand against him. If I’m right about this, it will be a “grab the popcorn” episode as Sonny explodes in court and loses his case.

Heather, Heather, Heather!

Well, we had a nice bit of a break from the Heather Webber drama, didn’t we? Unfortunately, she rolled back around this week. I think I may be one of the few people who wants to see Heather released, only because I adore Alley Mills in this role and want her to stick around. However, Laura was handed her out when Heather begged her to drop the idea of having her case reopened. Laura agreed, but will she honor Heather’s wishes? That remains to be seen.

Heather shocking request GH

Things got even sticker for Laura when Kevin noted there was a strong case to be made for Heather’s cobalt poisoning defense. Then, low and behold, Trina shows up to chat with Laura and somehow suddenly agrees with her about Heather. She feels Heather deserves the same kind of justice everyone deserves, and if she is mentally ill, she shouldn’t be punished as if she weren’t. Just like Willow and Drew’s sudden kiss, where did this come from? The writers have been springing things on the viewers lately that seem to come out of nowhere. Then there was Curtis, who shocked Portia with news of his visit to see Heather and admitted she was not the violent person she once was. Honestly, I can’t believe Portia didn’t rip his head off and eat it!

Portia is afraid GH

As for Portia, I’m not even going to waste my words on her. I agree, she has a right to be angry at the can of worms Laura has opened. But the way she acts, screams, and talks down to people… girl, put a sock in it! I keep having Passions flashbacks of Whitney screaming at Theresa to stay away from Ethan Crane, as the Cranes are dangerous people. Whitney, too, liked to preach!

Finally, even if Laura doesn’t move forward, someone else may, and that someone is Scott! Weeks ago, we found out he was looking into Heather’s case, and Lucy told him to drop it. But Scott smelled a big medical lawsuit and payday, and that’s going to be hard for Scott to say no to!
