If you have a teenager you’ve likely had the pleasure (not!) of teaching them how to drive. Some parents may have had no trouble at all but others, well, it’s harder on the nerves. General Hospital’s Maurice Benard (Sonny) had a little “run-in” with the topic recently when riding along with his son Joshua (ex-Adam).

The ABC soap actor posted a video to document his voyage with Joshua behind the wheel and shared, “It’s always pleasant driving with my son.” He went on to state that “sometimes a wise guy thinks he wants to be funny,” then assured, “I always teach my son never to have road rage.”

And in the video, Benard displays just that. However, not without a little bit of “Sonny” emerging before taking the high road…

It all started when they headed out for their ride. Bernard shared that it was the first time Joshua was driving after getting his license. “I’m scared out of my head,” he admitted then noticed another driver approaching and added, “Wait, wait, wait, let him go.” Suddenly, Benard yelled, “Come on, dude, hey, what’re you doing?” Apparently the driver had begun backing up toward their vehicle. When Joshua asked if he should move, his dad ordered, “No, you stay right here, stay right here… Sonny’s here.” As Joshua tried to contain his laughter, when it was safe to do so, Benard directed him to go around the other driver.

Of course, Benard did the right thing by showing his son that road rage is never the answer — and good thing the other driver didn’t pull back a little farther… It might have just pushed “Sonny” over the edge. All in fun, of course.
