One thing about Bold & Beautiful, it’s ain’t subtle. The soap is laying the foundation for what’s to come and we’re not gonna lie… it kinda has us cringing!
Taylor’s return brought with it the surprising twist that she was dying. We were gobsmacked. Had they cast soap vet Rebecca Budig in the role just to give the character a big send-off? Or was it another storyline where they’d bring Taylor to the brink of death only to have Finn and Li pull off a medical miracle at the last second, just as he and Bridget did with Eric? Practically the only possibility we hadn’t considered was the writers abruptly changing the World Renowned Psychatrist’s diagnosis to Broken Heart Syndrome.
From the moment Grace Buckingham uttered the words “Broken Heart Syndrome,” we knew it would be none other than Ridge who would provide the healing. And while it wasn’t of the sexual variety, it was intimate enough for Brooke, who showed up in time to witness the “breakthrough,” and spin out over it. After confronting both Taylor and Ridge about what she saw, the blonde bombshell was appeased, but we’re certain she’ll remain unsettled… and perhaps with good reason.
As we mentioned, Bold & Beautiful isn’t subtle, and with the non-stop talk about how much love Taylor and Ridge have for each other, and how they’ll always be connected, the writing is on the wall. Taylor will soon be back in ship-shape condition and ready to ride the Ridge wave again, that much is clear. They say that in life, the only two things that are certain are death and taxes. On this soap, the only two things you can be sure of is that the character’s not dying, they’ll end up in a love triangle.
But Taylor and Ridge gravitating back together isn’t the distasteful plot point we’re referring to in the headline. If you’ve been paying attention to the rest of the canvas, you’ll have noticed that other relationships are in flux as well. Bill’s attempt to win Katie back has been hampered by a very specific complication… she believes he still loves her sister, Brooke. We don’t think the timing of this is a coincidence.
You may have noticed that just as Taylor and Ridge started spending time together again, lo and behold, we got Brooke dropping into Bill’s house when we hadn’t seen them share scenes in absolute eons. She found out that Bill’s love for her is a sticking point for Katie… an angle that we’re sure is being emphasized for a reason… namely, it’s going to rear its ugly head again down the road.
If our hunch is correct, the groundwork is being put into place for some variation of this to go down: Brooke will convince Katie to go back to Bill because her future and destiny is so clearly with Ridge. She and Bill will never be together again. Katie will decide to reconcile with her ex-husband and put her family back together, just in time for Ridge and Taylor to start being irresistably drawn back together. Do you see where we’re going with this?
Once Ridge decides to flip-flop from Brooke to Taylor, Katie’s worst fears will come to fruition as Brooke turns to her and Bill in her time of need. Bill’s desire to comfort the blonde will trigger Katie, and almost certainly lead us back into the distasteful twist of a woman being powerless against the “destiny” she feels she must surrender to… with her sister’s man.
