Someone’s making moves on Young & Restless, and while the person it directly impacts won’t be Victor, it will indirectly rock his world. Why? A huge monkey wrench is about to be thrown into his plans (one of them anyway!), and it will also open a back door for a wronged character to take their revenge!
Victor is juggling a few plots these days, one of them being his scheme to screw over his longtime rival Jack Abbott by using his new company Glissade to take down the Abbott’s cosmetics juggernaut, Jabot. While that maneuver is moving at a snail’s pace, his plan to oust Billy from the former Chancellor Industries and install Nikki as CEO just went into overdrive thanks to someone being fired.
We’re talking about Lily, of course, who has approached Victor to strike a deal. Having no idea that Victor wants to put his wife in charge after the takeover, the wily Winters gal is offering inside information to bring Billy down in return for the Mustache re-installing her as CEO of the company. Victor and Nikki, it appears now, will try to string her along in order to help their cause, and perhaps offer her a lesser position after the dust settles.
It all boils down to whether or not Lily’s sharp enough to sense that she’s being played. If so, that, along with the coming twist, could be enough to upend Victor and Nikki’s plans for Chancellor altogether.
Now, to get to the twist. Summer and Chance’s seemingly inconsequential catch-up conversation in the park took a turn for the interesting when he alluded to making a risky and radical move at Chancellor, now Abbott Chancellor, before heading over to the office to butt heads with Billy. Typically a laid back sort, Chance seemed to exude a new energy as he informed his uncle that they needed to clarify a few things.
Given that Billy’s portrayer Jason Thompson recently teased someone stepping up at Chancellor, it stands to reason that Chance is making his move. Considering his name is on the building, it’s not a stretch. You may be thinking that he doesn’t have any experience in business, but we’re here to remind you that if a surgeon can become a top tier executive overnight, so can a cop.
Billy’s not budging, however, so Chance would be angling for Lily’s vacated co-CEO position. If he gets it? Well, that’s the huge monkey wrench in Victor’s plan we mentioned. Why? The Black Knight’s justification for taking over Chancellor is based entirely on the assertion that he wants to safeguard Katherine’s legacy. If her grandson, Chance Chancellor, steps up to claim his birthright, then Victor can no longer use that as the party line.
Simply put, the Duchess would not be pleased at Victor taking over her company and ousting her grandson, even for her dear friend Nikki. Nope, this would defintely foil the Newmans’ plans, or at least put a gigantic wrinkle in them.
So, what about the revenge we referenced? Well, Chance took issue with Billy firing Lily, which means that any advancement for the former cop could open a door, albeit a back one, for her to get retribution on her ex. If Chance believes Lily is better for Jill and Katherine’s company than Billy, he could either convince his grandmother to revoke her son’s power, or work with Lily behind the scenes to oust his volatile uncle and restore her position.
Then it would be Chance and Lily running Chancellor together. Any takeover by Victor after that would not only be considered hostile, but would give the impression that he’s thumbing his nose at what the late, great Katherine would have wanted. Not a good look.
